Table Covers

After I broke down and finally got a box & pan break and a metal shear, it was a simple matter to fabricate a toolbox / table covers using 11-gauge aluminum diamondplate.  An example of one of these covers is below.

The sturdy nature of the diamondplate permits a significantly larger load to be placed on the toolbox.  This cover in particular was constructed to permit a welder and plasma cutter to be put on the toolbox.  Note the TIG welded edge seam on the cover...

These covers are also a great alternative to canvas covers for wood patio tables.  Several of our outdoor tables would still get wet after a good rain because the canvas covers would invariably leak.  The solution is to fabricate  covers from 16-gauge aluminum diamondplate, making sure to roll over the bottom edges to form a safety edge for the bottom of the cover.  This minimizes the chance of cuts while stiffening up the structure to permit one-handed installation/removal on the table.
